Everybody Gotta Eat is a Boston-area food and culture platform rooted in community, storytelling, and celebration. Originating in Cambridge’s Newtowne Court, it has grown from backyard cookouts into large-scale events, chef incubation programs, curated dining experiences, and creative collaborations with brands and local organizations. Through everything from neighborhood pop-ups to thousands-strong gatherings, the organization creates spaces where food becomes a tool for connection, cultural expression, and shared joy. Its work spans community events, culinary development, partnerships, and catering experiences inspired by Afro-Caribbean and global soul food traditions.

Our Story
Everybody Gotta Eat was founded by Emmanuel Mervil, who grew up in a home where food was central to community, care, and culture. What began as informal backyard cookouts in Cambridge evolved into a larger vision: using food as a way to bring people together across neighborhoods, identities, and experiences. Guided by the belief that everyone eats—and that everyone deserves to feel seen and connected—the movement has grown into one of Greater Boston’s most influential food platforms. Today, it continues to expand that original spirit of generosity and gathering through events, chef development, and cultural collaborations that keep community at the heart of everything.
